Nils Schlüter presented our paper entitled "Encrypted dynamic control with unlimited operating time via FIR filters" in an invited session on “Security & Privacy of Cyber-Physical Systems".

Encrypted implementations of dynamic controllers such as PID or linear-quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controllers are highly relevant for practice but suffer from a finite operating time. Most existing methods that address this issue have shortcomings such as, e.g., high computational load, communication overhead, and/or robustness issues. We show in our paper that FIR filter-based approximations of dynamic controllers allow for an unlimited operating time and elegantly circumvent these problems. Furthermore, FIR filters achieve high cryptographic efficiency. In fact, in our numerical example a fully homomorphic implementation of a FIR filter has real-time capability.
